ABOUT URBAN DESIGN INSTITUTE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO

Urban Design Association of the University of Toronto (UDAUT) is a research based interdisciplinary students, alumni, professors, and few excellent designers group, specializing in crossovers of urban planning, architecture and landscape design. The Group’s objectives are to achieve academic and research exchange seamlessly between nations, schools, various disciplines and subject matter while building relationships between students, professors, and professional firms through the medium of academic research and urban design practice.

UDAUT IS A INSTITUTE FOR DEBATE, RESEARCH, TRAINING, AND COOPERATE

• Sponsoring international forum and lecture series on contemporary issues and related academic fields.
• Hosting design group for students, professors or professionals outside the educational environment to participate on real projects.
• To establish an internships camp for development for students on research and practical skills.

UDAUT PROVIDES AN ACADEMIC BRIDGE AMONG STUDENTS, PROFESSORS, UNIVERSITIES AND FIRMS

Utilize the platform of the University of Toronto to stimulate interest and participation from other related academic institutions (ex, Peking University); as well as the public and private business sectors.
Academic exercise through lecture series on contemporary topics by inviting related professors and scholars.
Establish attraction and interactions through involvement in urban design practices; improve corporation between university, professionals, and the government.

Weekly meeting will be hosted every Friday afternoon 4pm at Daniels Faculty of Architecture (room 104 or 106).

Canada WALD Design Solutions is registered design firm in Canada officially. It is a strategic partner with UDAUT. It dedicates in urban design especially green design and sustainable development. The representative firm is WALD China. They are substaintial sites for UDAUT by providing students internship, real projects design and academic research. Also, it will sponsor international forum. Several design teams are located in Beijing, Shenzhen, Dalian and Shanghai offices, in P.R. China.

WALD Beijing Branch is based on Tsinghua University X-Lab platform, certified as Beijing Zhongguanchun High Tech Entrepreneur by government.
